The Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls in Karnataka has identified more than 84.31 lakh voter records under the ASDDO category, State Chief Electoral
Officer V. Anbukumar said while providing an update on the ongoing exercise.
The ASDDO category includes voters who are absent, permanently shifted, deceased, have duplicate entries or fall under other specified classifications. Officials said the revision process is progressing steadily, with nearly 77% of the enumeration forms already digitised.
Digitisation gathers pace
Addressing the media, Anbukumar said that out of 5,54,32,314 enumeration forms distributed across the state, 4,26,75,861 forms have been digitised so far. This represents 76.99% of the total forms collected during the ongoing revision.
The digitisation process is a key step in updating the state’s electoral rolls before the draft voter list is prepared.
ASDDO voter details
According to the Chief Electoral Officer, 84,31,612 voter records have been identified under the ASDDO category during verification.
Breaking down the figures, he said:
- 11,61,231 voters were found to be absent.
- 51,74,968 voters had permanently shifted from their registered addresses.
- 14,99,799 voters were reported deceased.
- 5,62,572 voters were found to have duplicate entries.
- 33,042 records were classified under other categories.
Verification process explained
Explaining how the ASDDO verification is carried out, Anbukumar said officials prepare a field verification report for every case. Death certificates are collected and uploaded for deceased voters.
He clarified that voters marked as absent or shifted simply mean they were not available at the registered address during verification. They may have moved to another location or were unavailable when officials visited.
If such voters have not registered elsewhere in the country, they can apply online or submit Form 6 to restore or update their voter registration.
Appeal to submit forms
Anbukumar urged residents who are yet to return their enumeration forms to do so without delay. He said 43,24,847 forms are still pending across Karnataka.
He requested citizens not to keep the forms with them and instead hand them over to their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Even if a voter is not available at home, a family member may sign and submit the form on their behalf.
The last date for submitting enumeration forms is August 8. Individuals who will turn 18 years old on October 1, 2026, can apply for inclusion in the electoral roll by submitting Form 6.
Bengaluru records high ASDDO count
Within the Greater Bengaluru Authority limits, the state has 1,03,88,363 registered voters. Of these, 39,38,202 have been identified under the ASDDO category. Officials also said 16,57,582 forms in Bengaluru are yet to be digitised.
The Chief Electoral Officer added that election officials have been instructed to inform political parties about areas reporting a higher number of ASDDO voters to ensure transparency during the revision process.
