New Delhi: The BJP has appointed Deepak Mhaskey as its new national social media convenor under party president Nitin Nabin. The Chhattisgarh-based leader
comes with a background that combines party organisation, election data, information technology and grassroots outreach.
Mhaskey is a senior BJP leader based in Raipur and a Permanent Invited Member of the Chhattisgarh BJP. Before entering full-time political and organisational work, he worked as a college professor of chemistry.
From Chemistry to BJP organisation
Mhaskey holds an M.Sc. in Chemistry, along with a diploma in Cement Technology and a computer programming certification. He also has more than 35 years of experience in horticulture, organic farming and other agriculture-related activities.
Within the BJP, he has built a reputation for working with electoral data and analysing information related to elections and government welfare schemes. His experience in this area has been an important part of his organisational work.
Mhaskey has also served as the BJP’s Chhattisgarh State IT Cell in-charge and as a state spokesperson. These roles have given him experience in both technology-driven communication and the party’s public messaging.
Government and ground-level experience
Since 2025, Mhaskey has been serving as Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Ltd (CGMSC), holding the rank of Minister of State. He has also served as an Independent Director on the board of Engineers India Ltd.
His work has extended beyond party and government positions. He has been associated with initiatives such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, health camps, rural libraries and awareness programmes promoting digital payments.
His appointment places a leader with a strong organisational and data-focused background at the centre of the BJP’s national social media strategy. With experience in IT, election analysis and grassroots programmes, Mhaskey is expected to bring a different approach to the party’s digital outreach.
