New Delhi: Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) and Digantara Industries, an Indian space surveillance and intelligence startup based
in Bengaluru, announced a partnership to co-develop tools towards Space Situational Awareness (SSA). The collaboration supports the National Space Agency of Singapore (NSAS), which will be formally established on 1 April, 2026 under Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry to lead national space efforts, including developing capabilities and regulations for safe and sustainable operations in space. The partnership focuses on developing, testing and evaluating software applications to improve satellite tracking accuracy and effectiveness.
The partnership will build on Digantara’s demonstrated expertise in space and ground-based sensing infrastructure, along with the integration of sensor data using AI-driven analytics, to provide enhanced visibility in orbital environments. The initiative addresses the growing congestion in space, where increasing numbers of satellites and debris heighten collision risks. The tools aim to deliver a more comprehensive monitoring capability for Singapore’s satellites, ensuring their safety and enabling long-term operational reliability amid the challenges of operating in a hazardous environment. Digantara contribtues its technical capabilities in detection, tracking and predicting analytics, building on its existing network of ground sensors and the SCOT satellite launched in 2025 for non-Earth imaging capabilities.
Unique SSA capabilities
The collaboration introduces innovative approaches from the Indian private sector to Singapore’s SSA framework. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the inaugural Space Summit 2026, held between 2 and 3 February at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. Global stakeholders convened for the event to discuss responsible space operations and parternships in the expanding space economy. While most satellites in Earth orbit look at the planet itself, Digantara is one of the few private companies in the world with the demonstrated capabilities of observing other satellites from orbit. Digantara intends to provide a comprehensive safety net for satellites by tracking asteroids and severe space weather as well.
