New Delhi: Tata Motors has launched the facelifted Punch in India, with prices starting at Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the first proper mid-life
update for the small SUV since it entered the market in 2021. The overall shape of the Punch remains the same, but Tata has made several changes to the front and rear.
Along with design and feature changes, Tata has also added new engine options and for the look of the car they introduce six colours for the Tata Punch facelift. However, the new Punch also perform good in terms of safety. Though, the bookings for the updated Punch are now open.
Tata Punch facelift: Engine options

The biggest update is the addition of a new turbo-petrol engine. The Punch facelift now gets a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 120hp and 170Nm. This engine is borrowed from the Nexon and addresses one of the main complaints about the older Punch — lack of power. It comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox only. Tata claims the car can go from 0 to 100kph in 11.1 seconds. There is no automatic option with this turbo engine, likely to keep prices in check and avoid overlap with lower Nexon variants.
Apart from this new engine, the Punch continues with the existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which makes 88hp and 115Nm. There is also a petrol+CNG version that produces 73hp and 103Nm. Both these engines are available with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and an AMT option is also offered. The AMT gearbox is a new addition for the CNG variant.
Tata Punch facelift: Body updates

The overall body look of the Punch remains the same, but Tata has made several changes to the front and rear. At the front, the facelift gets new vertically stacked LED headlights with a triangular shape. The LED DRLs sit above them and are slightly different in design, surrounded by gloss black trim.

The front bumper has a black finish and features silver accents around the air intake area, giving the SUV a tougher look. From the side, changes are minimal, but the Punch now gets new 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, the SUV gets new LED tail-lamps that are connected by a light bar. The rear bumper is finished in black and includes a silver skid plate-style element.
The Tata Punch facelift is offered in six colours: Bengal Rouge, Caramel, Coorg Clouds, Cyantafic, Daytona Grey and Pristine White.

Inside, the Punch facelift keeps the familiar black and white cabin theme, but there are a few noticeable updates. The dashboard layout remains largely unchanged, but there is a new 2-spoke steering wheel with a gloss black finish and an illuminated Tata logo. The climate control panel is now touch-based and similar to the units seen in the Nexon and Sierra.
Seat upholstery is still fabric, but the design has been taken from the Punch EV, with a different blue and grey colour combination. A key update is that both front and rear seats now offer extendable thigh support. Tata has also added 3-point seatbelts for all passengers.

Feature updates are also significant. The 10.25-inch touchscreen remains the same as before, but the Punch now gets a new 7-inch digital driver’s display, sourced from mid variants of the Altroz. A 360-degree camera has been added, along with a new 8-speaker sound system that includes four speakers and four tweeters.
Other features include a single-pane sunroof, wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, cruise control, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers.
Tata Punch facelift safety
The Punch facelift comes with six airbags as standard. In terms of safety, the Punch continues to perform strongly. It has received a 5-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection under Bharat NCAP. It also gets rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill hold and hill descent control, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
