Wayanad: A major landslide was reported in Kerala’s Wayanad district on Tuesday after the region received continuous heavy rainfall since Monday night.
The incident occurred near Meenakshi Bridge at Kalladi, close to the ongoing Anakkompoyil-Meppadi tunnel road project that links Malappuram and Wayanad districts.
Construction workers were present at the site when the landslide occurred, raising fears that several people could have been trapped beneath the debris.

Local residents were the first to respond and helped rescue those trapped before emergency teams reached the area. Officials said two people were pulled out safely from the debris, while five others were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Rescue personnel from the Fire and Rescue Services quickly arrived at the site. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are also expected to join the ongoing search operation.
Authorities are continuing to search the affected area to confirm whether anyone else remains trapped under the debris.
