Bishkek: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday highlighted India’s 7.8% economic growth, saying the country had maintained strong momentum despite global
uncertainty, wars, crises and disruptions to supply chains.
Speaking in a selfie video from Bishkek, where he is attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, PM Modi congratulated the country on the latest growth figure and said India must work to maintain the pace.

The Prime Minister linked the growth achievement with his call for greater self-reliance and stronger preference for Indian products.
Urging citizens to contribute to the economy through their spending choices, PM Modi asked Indians to avoid unnecessary expenditure overseas.
“Foreign trips, if you are going for leisure, you should not go. If you are getting married abroad, you should not do so. And if it is not necessary, you should not buy gold either,” he said.
PM Modi said greater emphasis on swadeshi and self-reliance could help strengthen India’s economy and support its long-term development ambitions.
