Dehradun: Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that development projects worth over Rs 2 lakh crore are currently underway in the state. He made
this statement during a special assembly session held to mark 25 years of Uttarakhand’s formation.
The chief minister said these projects are being carried out with the support and guidance of the central government. Once completed, they will help Uttarakhand become one of the leading states in the country. He also said the state will play an important role in fulfilling the dream of “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).
Rishikesh-Karnprayag railway project
Among the major projects mentioned were the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line, all-weather road projects, ropeway systems, and air connectivity schemes. These projects aim to improve travel, tourism, and transport across the state, especially in remote hill areas.
30 new policies in different sectors
Dhami also said that his government has created 30 new policies in different sectors like energy, tourism, and infrastructure. He highlighted several laws introduced by his government, including the Uniform Civil Code, anti-conversion laws, anti-riot laws, and stricter rules against cheating in exams.
Govt taken steps against corruption
The chief minister claimed that his government has taken strong steps against corruption. He said that action has been taken against 200 corrupt officials, including IAS, PCS, and IFS officers. He also mentioned that 9,000 acres of land have been freed from illegal encroachment.
26,000 people have been given jobs in the last four years
In terms of employment, Dhami said that over 26,000 people have been given jobs in the last four years. He added that many decisions taken by his government will have a long-term impact and benefit future generations.
Paid tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee
During his speech, Dhami paid tribute to the people who led the movement for Uttarakhand’s statehood. He also praised former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, saying that Vajpayee not only created the state but also gave it an economic package to support its early development.
The assembly session was part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations, marking 25 years since Uttarakhand was carved out of Uttar Pradesh on November 9, 2000. The state has grown in many areas, but challenges like migration, disasters, and political instability remain.
