Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the temperature in Mumbai to remain above 40 degrees in the coming days. While the city
is expected to remain dry till Sunday, the weather department has predicted that the maximum temperature in Mumbai will remain around 33 degrees till May 24.
In recent times, the people of the city, Mumbaikars, are facing scorching heat because of the surge in humidity in the atmosphere. While several areas receive pre-monsoon rains, some parts of Mumbai may receive isolated light rain and thundershowers in next few days.
IMD issues red alert for three districts
Meanwhile, the weather department predicted red alert for 3 districts of Vidarbha for Saturday. Apart from Vidarbha, theIMD has issued a red heat alert for Akola, Amravati and Wardha, while an orange alert has been issued for other districts.
The weather department recorded 47.1 degrees Celsius in Brahmapuri in Chandrapur district on Thursday. Two people reportedly died in the district died due to heatstroke in Gondia and Gadchiroli districts.
Importantly, the IMD also issued an orange heat alert in Nagpur for Friday . The district witnessed tremendous heatwave, which impacted normal life in the district. Traffic in Nagpur city was reduced to nearly half around noon due to fear of heatstroke.
Gonda recorded 45.2 degrees Celsius
The district of Gonda too witnessed a heatwave. The people of the district were relived due to rain after the tremendous heat in last few days. The district recorded a temperature of 45.2 degrees Celsius for the second consecutive day.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a red alert for Amravati district. The district has been under a tremendous heatwave for last two days. the situation may remain same today as well. A red alert has been issued for Amravati district till May 23. The temperature in the state is expected to remain above 40 degrees for the next few days. Mumbai is likely to remain dry till Sunday. Meanwhile, the situation is expected to remain similar in Amravati city tomorrow as well. A heat red alert has been issued for the Amravati district till the 23rd.
