Mumbai: Amid the US-Israel and Iran war, which has also engulfed several Gulf countries, the crude oil prices have significantly jumped and rattled have rattled the financial
markets across the world. The Indian Stock Market is also facing the heat of the Middle East crisis as BSE Sensex plunged 3262.88 points to 77,233.80 in the last five days, while the NSE Nifty dropped 520.45 points to 23,930.
Notably, on Monday (March 9), the 30-share Sensex was hit hard as it plummeted 1685.10 points to 77,233.80 at the time of writing this article. The 50-share Nifty declined 520.45 points to 23,930.
Due to the recent military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran, and Tehran’s retaliatory attacks on US bases in Israel and countries such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain and others, have sharply escalated tensions in the region, leading to a near halt in tanker movements through the strategic Strait of Hormuz. During this period, stocks worth Rs 31 lakh crore have been sold in the Indian market.
In the past one week, several small and mid-cap stocks recorded sharp decline. LKP Finance shares fell about 80%. SRU Steels, Remedium Lifecare, and Trans Financial have also fallen by more than 25%.
Not only the smallcap, many large companies also witnessed sharp drop. The stock sof Netweb Technologies, Force Motors and Bank of India dropped around 14%. The large index stocks were also hit. The banking, metal, aviation, and financial sectors were also under pressure, as stocks of SBI, Tata Steel, and InterGlobe Aviation were among the top losers.
