Ayodhya: The SIT probing the embezzlement of funds case in Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir has reportedly found major lapses at various levels. This even as the SIT is all
set to submit its initial report to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today.
As per the report published in India Today, the probe team found negligence in cash counting, CCTV monitoring, and movements of offerings from the temple to the trust office. The State Bank of India (SBI) was responsible for sorting counting currency notes that the temple received as funds.
Workers hired from outside for cash counting?
The report further claimed that the agency hired workers for the cash-counting process. They were hired based on recommendations made by employees linked to the Ram Temple Trust. The SIT also probed how the hiring took place. It further alleged that one of the employees, Anukul Mishra, allegedly appointed his brother-in-law, Lavkush Mishra, for the cash counting in the temple.
During its probe, the SIT reportedly also found that there was inadequate checking of workers at the time of joining the work or leaving the temple. It found that employees responsible for cash counting were sitting inside the trust room in regular clothes even as they had a prescribed dress code. The dress code was reportedly not followed.
Probe find discrepancy in CCTV monitoring?
They also reportedly found that people could easily stand in front of or below the CCTV cameras before carrying out thefts, suggesting a discrepancy in surveillance and monitoring. The team also probed records linked to gold, silver ornaments, and other valuables offered to Lord Ram by devotees. Some trust officials were reportedly unable to provide a satisfactory answer related to queries regarding inventory and storage of valuables.
The report further said that the SIT has been regularly sending updates of its findings to the Chief Minister’s Office, with probe records being maintained digitally. The final report will be submitted to CM Yogi Adityanath in a few days.
