New Delhi: Rahul Dravid has stepped down as the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise confirmed in a statement
on Saturday that Dravid will conclude his term as the head coach after just one season in charge. Dravid replaced Kumar Sangakkara as RR’s head coach ahead of IPL 2025.
Dravid rejoined the Rajasthan Royals’ backroom staff as the head coach of the franchise after his stint with the Indian men’s cricket team ended last year. However, it turned out to be a disastrous season for Dravid and the franchise as the Royals could only manage four wins in 14 matches in IPL 2025 to finish a disappointing 9th in the 10-team league.
While the franchise didn’t confirm who will replace Dravid ahead of IPL 2026, Rajasthan Royals said the India legend turned down a ‘broader’ role at the franchise. The Royals also thanked Dravid for his services to the franchise.
