New Delhi: With Navratri approaching, preparations for Garba and Dandiya nights are already picking up. From traditional outfits to dance events, people
are getting ready for the nine-day festival, when Garba becomes a major attraction.
Garba is traditionally performed in circles and is associated with Goddess Shakti, while Dandiya is performed with decorated sticks and is known for its energetic movements. During Navratri, people often dress in chaniya-cholis, kediyus and bandhni outfits and dance to live folk music.
This year, however, one social media post has caught attention for a rather unusual reason finding a Garba partner.
‘Rent a garba partner’ post goes viral
An Instagram user named Krish Mistry shared a poster titled ‘Rent a Garba partner’, offering three packages for people looking for company during Garba events.
The poster carries the message, “This Navratri, don’t dance alone!” It lists Silver, Gold and Platinum packages, with prices starting at Rs 1,000 and going up to Rs 2,000.
The Silver package, priced at Rs 1,000, includes two hours of Garba, matching outfits and help with basic dance steps. It also promises awkward but cute selfies with the partner.
The Gold package costs Rs 1,500 and offers four hours of companionship at the event. It also includes a cute backstory of how we met. An optional arrangement allows the Garba partner to address the customer’s friends as bhai and bhabhi.
Social media users question whether it is real
The Platinum package, priced at Rs 2,000, offers all-day companionship and promises the customer a chance to see Mistry’s best dance moves.
The post has reportedly crossed 1.7 million views, with users flooding the comments with questions and jokes about the unusual offer.
“Is this real? Or just like a prank sort of? Because I really need a garba partner,” one user wrote.
Another asked, “Can I get the Rs 2,000 package on a budget under Rs 100?”
A third user joked, “Lol, is this actually real? Can I rent someone in the US for it?”
Meanwhile, another commenter said, “Bro, I might apply for real. Don’t joke with me.”
The viral post has left many users wondering whether the offer is a genuine service or simply a fun social media stunt ahead of Navratri.
