New Delhi: With both Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha adjourned sine die on Thursday, 12 bills were passed during the Monsoon session. Only one bill saw discussions
in the Parliament during the session. The Monsoon session had started on July 20.
Speaking to the media after the end of the Monsoon session, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the Opposition of “unfairly disrupting” Parliament proceedings. He pointed out that it was fr the first time that the Opposition was “running away” from debate even as the government was ready.

“For the first time, we have seen the Opposition running away from debate in Parliament when the government wanted discussions. Congress is solely responsible for unfairly disrupting the proceedings,” Rijiju said, as per news agency PTI. While the Opposition initially protested on NEET paper leaks Ram Temple donation embezzlements, it later wanted discussions on police action against protesting students over the NEET paper leak. It also demanded statements from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament.
While the government offered debate on paper leaks on Monday, the same was rejected by the Opposition. The same was again offered on Wednesday, but the Opposition rejected the proposal again. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said that the youth and the Opposition only wanted to know who ordered the use of pellet guns on protesting students.
Rajya Sabha chairman expresses concern over disruptions
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha Chairman C P Radhakrishnan expressed concern over disruptions in the House. “As the 271st Session of the Rajya Sabha draws to a close, I reflect on its proceedings with a deep concern. It is a matter of regret that the Session was marked by persistent disorder and frequent disruptions, which repeatedly derailed the business of the House,” the Chairman said.
