New Delhi: The 78th annual Primetime Emmy Awards weekend wrapped up its second night of the Creative Arts Emmys on Sunday at the Peacock Theater in Los
Angeles. The two-day ceremony has now paved the way for the main Primetime Emmy Awards, which will take place on September 14 and air live on NBC and Peacock.
Across the two nights, the Television Academy handed out 102 Emmy trophies in a wide range of craft and performance categories. Several shows emerged as major winners, with Apple’s Widow’s Bay, HBO Max’s DTF St. Louis and Prime Video’s Spider-Noir among the biggest names on the second night.
Widow’s Bay leads the Night 2 winners
Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay had a particularly strong evening, picking up eight awards across categories including guest actress, casting, production design, cinematography, music supervision, music composition, sound mixing and sound editing.
Betty Gilpin won Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance as Sarah Westcott Warren. The series also took home the awards for casting, cinematography for a half-hour series, production design for a narrative program and several music and sound categories.
DTF St. Louis was another major winner of the night. The series won both supporting acting categories in the limited or anthology series/movie section, with David Harbour taking home Supporting Actor and Linda Cardellini winning Supporting Actress.
Steven Conrad, the creator of DTF St. Louis, also won both the writing and directing awards. The show additionally picked up the cinematography and picture editing trophies.
Prime Video’s Spider-Noir had a strong showing as well. The series won awards for cinematography, title design, special visual effects, sound editing and stunt coordination.
South Park scores another Emmy
South Park added another Emmy to its long awards history by winning Outstanding Animated Program for Sermon On The ‘Mount. It was the show’s fifth Emmy in the category and its first win since 2013.
Meanwhile, Shailene Woodley earned her first Emmy for her role as Annie in Hulu’s Paradise. The win also marked Paradise’s first Emmy since the drama premiered last year.
Another emotional moment came when veteran actor Ernest Harden Jr. received a standing ovation after winning Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his appearance in The Pitt.
Eric Bauza also provided one of the night’s memorable moments. While accepting the Character Voice-Over Performance award on behalf of Julie Andrews for Bridgerton, he delivered his speech in a Donald Duck-inspired voice.
Palm Royale, Stranger Things and others among the winners
Apple TV’s Palm Royale, despite being cancelled, continued to receive recognition, winning awards for choreography, period or fantasy/sci-fi makeup, costumes and other categories across the weekend.
Netflix’s Remarkably Bright Creatures won Outstanding Movie.
Stranger Things picked up the award for Special Visual Effects in a Season or a Movie, while The Pitt collected multiple trophies, including casting, prosthetic makeup and its guest acting win.
Noah Wyle opened the second night with a message celebrating the behind-the-scenes artists whose work often goes unnoticed. He praised directors, stage managers, grips, set designers and other craftspeople whose creativity and effort are central to television production.
Saturday’s big winners
The first night also produced several notable victories. The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny collected seven awards, while The Traitors won six. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert took home five trophies.
The Muppet Show also had a successful evening, including a win for variety special. In individual categories, Jimmy Kimmel won Outstanding Game Show Host, while Octavia Spencer was recognised for narrating Lost Women of Alaska.
Mariska Hargitay had an emotional night, winning Emmys for the documentary My Mom Jayne and for directing the project. She is also set to host the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards.

After two nights, Widow’s Bay leads the overall tally with eight wins. It is followed by the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny with seven, DTF St. Louis and The Traitors with six each, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Spider-Noir with five each.
