Its sequel, Dhurandhar 2, was officially locked for an Eid 2026 release and has effectively reduced the chances of Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan arriving on the same festive window.
Industry sources confirmed to News9Live thatBattle of Galwan was tentatively planned for Eid 2026. However, with Dhurandhar 2 announcing March 19, 2026, as its release date, the probability of a clash has now been described as “remote.”
No clash between Dhurandhar 2 and Battle of Galwan?
It has been indicated that Salman Khan is not keen on releasing his film against another big-ticket project. The Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor is believed to have expressed that once a date is taken, it should be respected.
Industry insiders further told News9Live that alternative release dates are now being actively explored for Battle of Galwan. While Eid was, and continues to be, under consideration, the focus has reportedly shifted to identifying a vacant window that suits the scale and sentiment of the war drama. The approach has been described as measured, with no intention of disrupting another film’s release plans.
Dhurandhar 2 to target the South Indian fans
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar 2 has emerged as one of the most ambitious sequels in recent times. The announcement follows the historic theatrical run of Dhurandhar, which released only in Hindi yet generated unprecedented traction across South India. Despite the absence of dubbed versions, the film witnessed strong footfalls driven by word-of-mouth, social media momentum and repeat viewing.
Distributors and exhibitors across southern states are said to have repeatedly flagged demand for regional-language versions. Fans, too, were seen calling for wider accessibility. Taking note of this organic response, the makers have confirmed that Dhurandhar 2 will release simultaneously in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, positioning it as a full-fledged pan-India spectacle.
The sequel is being directed by Aditya Dhar,with production duties handled by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The film is currently in post-production and is being designed on a significantly larger narrative and visual scale.
