New Delhi: Despite facing competition from a major new release, Cocktail 2 continues to maintain a steady run at the box office. The Shahid Kapoor, Kriti
Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna starrer has crossed Rs 83 crore in India within 10 days of its theatrical release.
Directed by Homi Adajania, the romantic drama opened to mixed reviews but received strong audience support during its first weekend. The film has now surpassed the lifetime domestic collection of the 2012 film Cocktail, which starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty.
On its 10th day in theatres, which marked its second Sunday, Cocktail 2 collected Rs 4.40 crore net in India, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. The film is currently running across 3,791 shows nationwide. Its total India net collection stands at Rs 83.15 crore, while the India gross collection has reached Rs 98.76 crore.
The film’s second-weekend performance has come amid the arrival of Akshay Kumar’s Welcome To The Jungle, which has taken up a large share of screens across the country. The comedy entertainer opened with 10,892 shows on its first Friday and has affected the show count of Cocktail 2.
Cocktail 2’s shows have dropped from its opening-week peak of 10,835 to 3,791. Meanwhile, Welcome To The Jungle has collected Rs 61.49 crore net in India within three days, increasing competition for the romantic drama.
The film has also emerged as one of the stronger performers for its lead actors in recent years. It has gone past the lifetime collections of Shahid Kapoor’s Deva (Rs 34.37 crore) and O’Romeo (Rs 72.99 crore).
The film has also moved ahead of Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s previous collaboration Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024), which ended its theatrical run with Rs 83.75 crore.
Cocktail 2 had a strong opening week, collecting Rs 70.50 crore net in its first seven days. The film recorded its highest daily collection on the first Sunday with Rs 17.75 crore after earning Rs 13.50 crore on Friday and Rs 16.25 crore on Saturday.
However, the film saw a sharp decline after the opening weekend, with Monday collections dropping to Rs 6.75 crore. The numbers continued to fall through the weekdays, reaching Rs 4.25 crore by the first Thursday. Its second weekend remained steady but lower, with Rs 4 crore on day 8 and Rs 4.25 crore on day 9.
Cocktail 2 is written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain and is presented as a spiritual successor to the 2012 film. Produced by Dinesh Vijan, Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg under Maddock Films and Luv Films, the film features a new lead trio of Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna.
