New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department has forecast widespread rain and thunderstorms across southern, western, and eastern parts of the country
today. Kerala, Karnataka, parts of the Northeast, Odisha, West Bengal, Maharashtra and other southern regions are expected to receive showers.
The weather department has also forecast thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in several areas. Delhi, however, is likely to remain largely dry with no significant weather warning issued for the national capital. The rainfall activity over Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh is expected to increase from October 6.
Delhi, UP weather today
Delhi-NCR is not under any major weather warning for October 3. The capital is expected to see mostly dry conditions, although the IMD has forecast isolated to scattered rainfall over Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh from October 6-7.
Uttar Pradesh is also likely to remain largely dry with no significant rainfall activity expected while parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh may see isolated to scattered showers.
In eastern India, Odisha is expected to receive isolated to scattered rainfall with the wet spell likely to continue through October 7. Bihar and Jharkhand are expected to see rainfall from October 5 with Gangetic West Bengal may also receive showers today.
Maharashtra, Central India forecast
Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra may receive isolated to scattered rainfall today. The rainfall activity in Maharashtra is expected to continue through October 7, although no heavy rainfall warning has been issued for the state for October 3.
Chhattisgarh is also likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall with the wet spell expected to continue through October 7.
South India, Northeast to see rain
Kerala and Mahe are likely to see fairly widespread to widespread rainfall today along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. Winds of 30-40 kmph with gusts reaching 50 kmph, are possible in Kerala. The IMD has also warned of heavy rain in Kerala from October 4-6.
Coastal Karnataka may receive widespread rainfall while South Interior Karnataka could see isolated to scattered showers. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may also experience rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds.
In the Northeast, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to receive isolated to scattered rainfall. The IMD expects rainfall activity to continue across several parts of the region through October 7.
Overall, rain is expected to remain active across southern, eastern and northeastern parts of the country over the coming days while northwest India could see increased rainfall activity from October 5-7.
