New Delhi: In a terrible accident on Monday, 11 people were killed, and two others were injured after an eco car hit a cement mixer in Maharashtra’s Thane
district.
The accident took place at around 10:45 am on the Raita bridge in Murbad. The tragedy occured when an eco car travelling from Kalyan towards Murbad hit a cement mixer which was travelling from the opposite direction. The severe impact of the collision mauled both vehicles, resulting in the death of 11 people.
The gruesome accident and how it occured
The eco car was reportedly carrying several passengers when the accident took place. The accident killed eight men and three women. According to reports, the remaining passengers were seriously injured. This incident is causing panic in the area.
According to the initial information received, this eco car was transporting passengers on the Kalyan to Murbad route at a high speed. At the same time, a cement mixer truck was coming from the opposite direction and the two vehicles collided head-on on the Raita bridge. The impact was so strong that the entire car was shattered, leaving the passengers no chance to recover.
The rescue and treatment of injured people
There was a loud noise during the accident which alerted local citizens and they immediately rushed to the scene. Titwala Police and Highways Administration also reached the scene immediately after receiving the information and along with local citizens tried their best to save the passengers trapped in the car.
The injured people were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Also, this incident has once again brought to the fore the issue of illegal passenger transport, which is being carried out in violation of the rules. Now, everyone’s attention is focused on what concrete measures will be taken against this.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “The incident in which 11 people lost their lives in a horrific accident due to a collision between two vehicles near Kalyan on National Highway 61 is extremely tragic. I pay my heartfelt tribute to them. We share in the grief of these families. We are in contact with the local administration.”
