over a viral video featuring him inside a metro coach. The clip, which circulated widely on social media, showed the actor hanging from grab handles and doing pull-ups.
Soon after the video gained traction, the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited flagged the incident. Sharing the clip online, the authority cautioned commuters and celebrities alike, stressing that such actions are considered an offence under existing metro regulations. “This video should have come with a disclaimer like the ones in your action movies… Do Not Try This On Maha Mumbai Metro,” the post read.
Varun Dhawan’s team clarifies
As speculation grew over whether Varun would face a fine or legal consequences, his team stepped in to clarify the situation. In an official statement, the actor’s representatives said, “We would like to address the recent reports regarding Varun Dhawan and the Mumbai Metro. We wish to clarify that no fine or penalty of any kind has been issued to Varun. The earlier post by the authorities has been taken down, and we appreciate their cooperation in clearing up this misunderstanding.”
“Varun has the utmost respect for the city’s rules and the Metro department’s efforts. We are happy to confirm that there are no pending issues, and we thank the media for sharing this accurate update,” the team added.
The original warning from metro officials had also highlighted the influence public figures wield. Authorities noted that such visuals, when shared without context or disclaimers, could encourage unsafe behaviour among commuters and potentially lead to injuries or damage to public property.
