Hyderabad: Students and parents in Telangana have been advised about a statewide bandh called by several student organisations on Friday, July 10. The
protest is expected to affect educational institutions from kindergarten to postgraduate level across the state.
The bandh has been announced by left-affiliated student organisations, including the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), All India Students’ Federation (AISF), Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU) and All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO).

The student bodies said the shutdown has been called to highlight what they describe as unresolved issues affecting the state’s education system. They alleged that the Congress government has failed to address long-pending concerns despite being in power.
Ahead of the bandh, student leaders organised a rally in Hyderabad from Y Junction to Narayanguda Crossroads on Thursday. During the march, they appealed to educational institutions to cooperate with the protest and requested support from students and parents.
The organisations claimed that the state is yet to appoint a dedicated Education Minister even after nearly two years of the present government’s tenure.
They also alleged that the government is planning to shut around 23,000 government schools instead of strengthening public education. According to the student leaders, several institutions continue to function without proper infrastructure, computer laboratories and permanent buildings, despite announcements about introducing artificial intelligence and Finland-inspired education models.
Fee dues highlighted
The protesting groups further alleged that around ₹10,814 crore in fee reimbursement and scholarship dues have remained unpaid for nearly six years. They claimed this has created difficulties for students, including delays in obtaining academic certificates.
The organisations also criticised Government Orders (GOs) 7, 8 and 9, alleging that they could weaken existing fee reimbursement schemes. They further accused the government of failing to control excessive fee collection by corporate educational institutions.
Call for support
Student organisations have urged students, parents and the general public to participate in the statewide bandh, saying the protest aims to protect the education system and push for long-pending reforms.
