New Delhi: Days after calling off its protests after Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Monday threatened
to once again launch its protests if FIRs are not withdrawn against all protesting students
Issuing a statement, CJP chief spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka urged the Centre to make sure that no charges are filed against protesters. He also urged that those students who have been taken into custody must be released at the earliest.

“We demand that all the FIRs against the protestors be immediately withdrawn, students be released and no future FIRs be filed (in line with our agreement) by Delhi police / Central investigative agencies / Police in BJP-allied states, FAILING WHICH WE WILL BE FORCED TO SIT ON PROTEST AGAIN,” Ranka wrote on X.
His statement followed a similar remark by his CJP colleague Saurav Das, who also expressed concerns that some students and other protestors were targeted and that they were either detained or arrested.
The CJP had earlier said that stated that the Centre assured that no legal or police cases would be filed against protestors participating in protests at Jantar Mantar and in other cities across the country
“The CJP continues to closely monitor the situation and expects the Government of India and all BJP/NDA state governments to act with utmost urgency, responsibility, and good faith that the present circumstances demand,” Das added further in his statement.
CJP came under huge protests over celebration videos
Notably, after the end of the protest, the CJP came under huge criticism after videos showed some of its leaders celebrating Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation as education minister. Defending the CJP, Das had said, “We can sit on the road for as long as it takes. We can protest while dancing. We can organise while sipping cold coffee. We can fight for change without looking the way previous generations think a movement should look (no shade on anyone!),” he wrote.
