New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several parts of Maharashtra, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, rainfall
and gusty winds on Sunday. Several districts are likely to see light to moderate rain, while isolated areas may receive heavy rainfall.
According to the IMD, North Konkan, North Central Maharashtra and Marathwada are likely to experience heavy rain in some areas. Gusty winds could reach 40-50 kmph, particularly during thunderstorms.
Yellow alert across Maharashtra
A yellow alert is in place for Thane, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Nashik Ghat, Ahilyanagar, Pune, Pune Ghat, Kolhapur, Kolhapur Ghat, Satara, Satara Ghat, Sangli, Solapur, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Dharashiv, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal.
The IMD has forecast thunderstorms with lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph at isolated places across these districts.
South Konkan-Goa and South Central Maharashtra may also see thunderstorms and lightning, along with light to moderate rainfall. Gusty winds in these areas could reach 40-50 kmph.
