New Delhi: The first-ever Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will run between Guwahati in Assam and Howrah in West Bengal on January 17, 2026. Earlier, this month,
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed that the state-of-the art train is being launched for the passengers after successful completion of trial, testing, and certification. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train on this route.
The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will pass through the following areas in West Bengal and Assam – Kamrup Metropolitan and Bongaigaon in Assam. Howrah, Maldah, Murshidabad, Purba Bardhaman, Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, and Hooghly in West Bengal. Indian Railways Vande Bharat Express has redefined rail travel in India and the launch of sleeper version is expected to give more luxurious experience to the travellers.

Howrah-Guwahati Vande Bharat Sleeper will operate as train number 27575, while the Kamakhya–Howrah service will run as train number 27576. The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will have 16 coaches, including 11 three-tier AC coaches, 4 two-tier AC coaches, and 1 first-class AC coach, with a total capacity of around 823 passengers.
Howrah-Kamakhya Vande Bharat Sleeper train 27575 timings
Howrah–Kamakhya Vande Bharat Sleeper 27575 will depart from Howrah at 6:20 pm and arrive at Kamakhya at 08:20 am the following day. The return journey will be covered by Kamakhya-Howrah train 27576 will leave Kamakhya at 6:15 am and reach Howrah at 8:15 am the next day. The journey will be completed in around 14 hours.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train timings have been set in away that the entire journey is covered overnight. The train will depart from its origin in the evening and reach its destination early the next morning.
Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Food
Indian Railways has ensured that the passengers are offered region-specific food on the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. “Train originating from Guwahati will feature authentic Assamese cuisine, while train starting from Kolkata will serve traditional Bengali delicacies, ensuring a delightful and culturally rich dining experience on board,” the Ministry of Railways has confirmed.

Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Ticket Price
- For journeys up to 400 km: Indian Railways has said that ticket price will start from Rs 960 for 3AC, Rs 1,240 for 2AC and Rs 1,520 for 1AC.
- For journeys up to 800 km: Rs 1,920 for 3AC, Rs 2,480 for 2AC and Rs 3,040 for 1AC.
- People travelling up to 1,600 km would have to shell out Rs 3,840 in 3AC for a single passenger, Rs 4,960 for Second AC class and Rs 6,080 for First AC class.
- For distances up to 2,000 km, the ticket price would range Rs 4,800 for 3AC, Rs 6,200 for 2AC and Rs 7,600 for 1AC.
The above-mentioned fares are based on media reports. Once IRCTC allows ticket booking for Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Assam-Howrah, it be clear what will be the exact charges.
No RAC tickets for Vande Bharat Sleeper Express
Railways has confirmed that only confirmed train tickets will be issued for Vande Bharat Sleeper Express. There will be no RAC or waitlisted tickets. All berths will be open for booking from the first day of the advance reservation period.
