New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday shared a rare light-hearted moment with a video
of their cordial interaction being widely shared on social media.
Prime Minister Modi arrived at the Prerna Sthal in the Parliament complex to pay floral tribute to social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his 200th birth anniversary. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was already present there when the PM arrived.

PM Modi enquired about Rahul’s well-being
Modi was greeted by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rahul Gandhi, Union minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, former Rajya Sabha deputy chairman Harivansh, among others.
What got the internet talking was an exchange of interaction between the two leaders. After greeting the leaders present there, PM Modi went to Rahul and enquired about his well-being. Gandhi, with a smiling face, responded to the Prime Minister. Some netizens have described the visuals as a “beautiful picture of democracy”.
A rare candid moment amid fierce rivalry
The incident comes days after the recently concluded Parliament session witnessed sharp exchanges between the ruling party and the Opposition.
Marking the occasion, PM Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, describing him as a visionary social reformer who dedicated his life to the ideals of equality, justice and education. In a post on X, he wrote, “On the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, I pay tribute to a visionary social reformer who devoted his life to the ideals of equality, justice and education. He was also a pioneer in advocating the rights of women and the underprivileged. His efforts made education a powerful tool of empowerment. This year marks the beginning of celebrations of his 200th birth anniversary. His thoughts continue to guide us in our efforts towards societal progress.”
