What did Ranvir Shorey say about the CJP protest?
The threats reportedly followed Shorey’s criticism of the CJP’s protest. In his post, the actor questioned the use of street demonstrations to raise political demands and said parties should rely on Parliament, elections and the courts instead.
“Show your numbers in Parliament and the ballot, not the streets! And if the way to those seems unjust, show the courts! That is the democratic way! Hijacking the streets and holding the public infrastructure and law and order machinery to ransom is the actual ‘murder of democracy’!” he wrote.

Why did the CJP organise a protest in Delhi?
The Cockroach Janata Party held a demonstration at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The protest was linked to alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The process has drawn political criticism, with concerns being raised over how voter lists are being revised.
Shorey’s comments on the demonstration were followed by the alleged threats, bringing the exchange into the spotlight on social media. His appeal to cyber authorities has also drawn attention to the messages he received.
The allegations are yet to be established independently. Any further developments will depend on the findings of the authorities investigating the matter.
