New Delhi: Indian pacer Gurnoor Brar has made a strong start to his international career by taking 6 wickets in the first two ODI matches against Afghanistan,
conceding 87 runs. The debutant believes his journey is firmly rooted in domestic cricket and the experience he gained from India A before stepping onto the biggest stage.
“The India A setup is obviously a big thing for me. If we perform in the Ranji Trophy, we get picked for India A, the Duleep Trophy or the Irani Cup. When I got the call-up for India A, I was very happy,” Brar said after the second ODI.
The debutant talked about his experience and said thar it was him as when he bowled in the Ranji Trophy, where he bowled hard lengths and swung the ball.
The pacer credited India’s domestic cricket structure and dressing-room exposure along with senior fast bowler for helping him to improve his game before representing India.
“There is a very good atmosphere in Gujarat Titans. There is (Ashish) Nehra sir, (Kagiso) Rabada, (Mohammed) Siraj bhai, Prasidh (Krishna) bhai and Ishant Sharma, so you get to learn a lot from them,” he added. Brar said that he doesn’t think much about reputation and believe in himself in his abilities.
‘I want to do more for Team India’
Despite a great start to his international career, Brar insisted on working hard and doing better for the Indian team. He believes there’s lot to improve in his bowling even after delivering perfect hard lengths and yorkers.
“I don’t get satisfied, I get happy that I did well, but I want to do more for Team India. I want to keep doing better. I just keep doing my work,” Brar added.
The third and final ODI of the series will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on June 20. The Men in Blue have already won the series by 2-0, and will aim to whitewash Afghanistan. Meanwhile, the visitors will also look the last game of the series.
