Kolkata: The decline in gold and silver prices today, June 19, was much higher than what was observed on June 18, which followed the decision of the US
Fed to retain key policy rates unchanged. That one act retained the attraction of the US dollar. The fall in gold and silver prices has brought relief for consumers while investors have turned cautious since yesterday. The downward pressure is witnessed in the domestic bullion market, MCX and global markets. On MCX, gold is trading at Rs 1,46,817, down by 1.67% or Rs 2,492. Meanwhile, silver has fallen by 2.75% or a massive Rs 6,867 to reach Rs 2,31,050 per kg. Spot prices of gold and silver
Decline in gold and silver prices has been observed in the retail market. Gold is trading at Rs 1,47,150 per 10 grams, significantly below the Rs 1.50 lakh level. Meanwhile, the price of silver has dropped by a big extended below the Rs 2.50 lakh a kg. Today, the decline was about Rs 6,370. Buyers were certainly relieved to see the decline.
Gold and silver on MCX
Today, gold and silver futures prices on the MCX showed pronounced weakness. Gold contracts expiring on August 5 are trading at Rs 1,46,817, down by 1.67% while silver contracts expiring on July 3 fell by 2.75% to reach Rs 2,31,050. Selling pressure persists for both precious metals, resulting in the recorded price drops. Consequently, investors and buyers are keeping a close watch on the market’s future trajectory.
Sharp decline in both gold and silver prices was also seen in the international market. Gold is trading down by about 2% and silver has fallen by more than 3%.
