Greater Noida: A disturbing incident involving sleeper buses travelling from Delhi towards Uttar Pradesh and Bihar has been reported. A sleeper bus caught
fire on the Yamuna Expressway near Noida International Airport late at night, killing nine people.
Several other passengers reportedly suffered severe burn injuries in the incident. The fire spread rapidly through the bus, leaving passengers struggling to escape.
As the blaze intensified, some passengers jumped out of the moving bus to save themselves. Emergency teams were alerted and rescue operations were carried out at the site.

A passenger told news agency ANI, “After I fell asleep, someone woke me up saying the bus had caught fire, and we all scrambled to get out. It was not an easy situation to escape from; there was a lot of smoke. We somehow managed to get out in a state of panic. The bus was packed with passengers.”

Another passenger recalled waking up to a huge crowd after someone banged on the bus door. “I didn’t pick up any of my belongings; I didn’t even put on my shoes. I just grabbed my phone and stepped out.” She said the bus was filled with smoke, making escape difficult. “People were suffocating inside,” she said, adding that many passengers behind her “probably couldn’t make it out.”
Further details about the cause of the fire, the identities of those killed, the condition of the injured and the number of passengers onboard are awaited.
