New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday said that the few concessions they gave to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for ending the India
match boycott will only be announced after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2026. The T20 spectacle started on February 7 and will last till March 8 with the concessions being made public only after that.
As per a report in PTI, a PCB source confirmed to the news agency that whatever concessions they have received from the global cricketing body will only be made public after the ICC event ends. The ICC has already announced that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will not face any sanctions from the global body for boycotting the World Cup in India and will also be given an ICC event in the 2028-2031 cycle (preferably U19 men’s World Cup).
Earlier, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the country will boycott just the T20 World Cup group clash against arch-rivals India and play the rest of the tournament but finally after much deliberation between the ICC and the PCB, it was decided to end the long stand-off that had kept the cricketing world on its toes.
Pakistan started off their drama in solidarity with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), who were replaced by Scotland after refusing to play their matches in India citing security reasons. Meanwhile, the deliberation also had an intervention from the Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissinayake and the Bangladesh Cricket Board, which requested Shahbaz Sharif to change their stance keeping broader interests in mind.
Though the ICC released a statement on Monday confirming that Bangladesh would not be sanctioned for their stance but it refused to address the concessions they have decided to give to the Pakistan cricket board for ending the impasse. The report also mentions that Naqvi has been pushing for an increase in the share of revenues for the PCB but this would be done only after the ICC board approves the same in the next financial cycle.
