Washington: In recent days, speculation has been raised on whether US first lady Melania Trump is distancing herself from President Donald Trump. A few
political observers and a publicist have pointed towards her limited public appearances this year. As per a report by journalist Joanna Coles, the US first lady was seen only 14-16 times this year.
Following the report, questions have been raised on her visibility, even as the President continued with his official engagements, including foreign tours. In recent times, Melania has attended the 2026 World Cup Final and 4th of July celebrations. She did not accompany President Trump in his recent China visit, the ibttimes.co.uk reported.

The US first lady also did not attend the wedding celebrations of Donald Trump Junior. Speaking to ‘ The Daily Beast’ on a podcast, Coles called the situation a vanishing act and observed that she was seen very limited in public life this year.
Making a contrast with former first lady Michelle Obama (wife of former president Barack Obama), she said that Michelle made at least 100-150 public appearances annually. Similarly, Laura Bush (Wife of former President George W. Bush Jr) made 120 public appearances, while Jill Biden ( wife of former President Joe Biden) made over 100 public appearances when their husbands were the President of the US, ibttimes.co.uk added further.
