Delhi AQI level today: Delhi’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) improved to 193 on Saturday, October 24, placing the capital in the ‘moderate’ category,
according to readings recorded at 6 am. However, several monitoring stations across Delhi and neighbouring NCR cities continued to report poor air quality.
The improvement follows three consecutive days of poor air, with the AQI reaching 230 on Friday. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) had introduced Stage-I of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi-NCR on October 21, a day after Dussehra, following a sharp rise in pollution.

Delhi air pollution
Delhi’s AQI stood at 179 on Tuesday, October 20, before rising to 244 on Wednesday. It was still in the poor category on Thursday, with a morning reading of 226, and stood at 230 on Friday. Stage-I GRAP measures include dust control, mechanised road sweeping, water sprinkling, regular waste collection and action against open waste burning.
Delhi’s AQI is expected to remain in the ‘poor’ category till October 26 and stay at similar levels for the following six days, as weak winds and unfavourable ventilation limit pollutant dispersion. Transport is the largest identified contributor to the capital’s pollution at 20.3%, followed by residential sources (5.2%) and industries (4.2%). Stubble burning accounts for 5.1%. Among NCR districts, Gurugram contributes the most to Delhi’s pollution at 8.8%, followed by Jhajjar (6.1%) and Gautam Buddha Nagar (4.7%).
