New Delhi: Google Workspace is introducing a significant batch of AI enhancements designed to streamline and simplify everyday work. The company unveiled
a new set of voice capabilities for Gmail, Google Docs and Google Keep, as well as an improved AI Inbox and a personal AI agent to assist with tasks, known as Google Pics, an AI-powered image editing platform, and smarter AI Inbox capabilities.
The announcements took place at Google’s most recent product showcase, in which the company noted how AI is being infused into its workspaces throughout. Google estimates over 4 billion people use apps like Gmail, Docs and Drive, and these improvements will be used by people to brainstorm, organise information and complete tasks without having to do much extra work.
Gmail, Docs and Keep get conversational voice features
Google has announced novel voice-driven AI features that enable users to interact with Workspace apps naturally using voice.
A major addition is Gmail Live, which is a new search function that lets users search their Gmail through voice commands. Users can make a request of the system, such as “What’s my flight gate number?” or “What’s happening at my child’s school this week?” rather than scrolling through their emails. Afterwards, Gmail Live reads your email and provides a summary response. “For users who are looking for information easily on the go,” says Google.
Another new addition is called Docs Live, which is orientated towards document production. Google says the tool is “like a voice-activated writing assistant that can help you organise documents, outlines, and content” from speech-to-text. Docs Live can also retrieve content from Gmail, Drive, Chat and the web with user consent to enhance drafts and add context.
Google is also adding more AI capabilities to Keep. Users can now verbally dump thoughts or ideas into the app, and Keep will automatically turn them into structured notes, lists or reminders.
These conversational capabilities will gradually be rolled out this summer to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, and in preview to Workspace business customers, the company confirmed.

Google also launched Google Pics, its latest AI-powered platform for image generation and editing, which is based on the company’s NanoBanana model.
Google claims Pics is designed to offer more precise editing controls, unlike other AI image generators that force users to create visuals over and over again. Users can isolate objects within an image, resize or transform them, edit embedded text and even translate text while maintaining the original font and design style.
The tool also facilitates collaboration, enabling multiple collaborators to work on the same image concurrently, using shared canvases. Google also added that Pics will be available in the “Workspace apps” such as Slides and Drive and will be seamlessly integrated into them.
Currently Google Pics is rolling out a set of trusted testers, which will be followed by a larger rollout later this summer for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and Google Workspace business users.
AI Inbox expands with smarter email management tools.
Google has also been making a number of changes to the AI Inbox feature in Gmail, adding new productivity-centric features.
It is now possible to create personalised draft responses for emails that require urgent replies using the AI system. It also can reveal valuable Google Docs, Sheets or Slides links right beside associated tasks, which decreases the amount of time spent searching through extensive e-mail conversations.
Other changes feature the ability to dismiss any of the unnecessary suggestions with a single click and the option to mark related emails as read in a one-click bulk action.
Google stated that Google AI Ultra subscribers and Google Workspace Enterprise Plus customers can already use AI Inbox. The feature is now rolling out to Google AI Plus and Pro subscribers in the US.
Gemini Spark aims to become a 24/7 AI assistant
Another big announcement was the new AI agent, Gemini Spark, that was added to the Gemini app.
Google’s Gemini Spark is a change from the AI assistant that answers questions to one that can actually carry out tasks. The AI agent will also be able to help with digital workflows and be integrated with Workspace apps but still needs to be approved by the user before taking any important action, including sending emails or scheduling calendar events.
Google says Gemini Spark will be rolling out to preview testing for Workspace business customers via the Gemini app soon.
