New Delhi: Varun Dhawan-starrer Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is all set to release in theatres on June 5, 2026. Ahead of the film’s release, it has received
a UA certificate with a runtime of approximately 2 hours and 25 minutes.
The film underwent 11 modifications before being granted the censor certificate from the Central Bureau of Film Certification.

Most of the changes relate to scenes and dialogues considered sexually suggestive or vulgar. Several hand gestures were modified, references to condom brands and flavours were either blurred or muted, and certain words in the dialogue were replaced with milder alternatives. The certification process also required adjustments to some dance sequences, including reframing shots where undergarments were visible.
In addition, a brief visual alteration of around six seconds was made to a scene featuring the names Jos Butler and Ben Stokes.
The edits indicate a strong focus on toning down suggestive visuals, gestures, and language while retaining the film’s overall narrative and securing a UA certification.

Directed by David Dhawan, the film stars Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, Pooja Hegde, Maniesh Paul, Chunky Panday, Jimmy Shergill, Mouni Roy, Rakesh Bedi, Ali Asgar, and Rajesh Kumar in important roles. The film is produced by Ramesh Taurani under the Tips Films banner.
Meanwhile, the film has been embroiled in a legal row over the use of two songs from Biwi No 1, ‘Chunnari Chunnari’ and ‘Ishq Sona Hai’. Vashu Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment has filed a lawsuit of Rs 400 crore in the Bombay High Court against Tips Industries, Ramesh Taurani, Kumar S Taurani, and David Dhawan. The suit seeks an injunction against the use of songs and further demanded its removal from the film. The production house has also demanded additional Rs 100 crore as damages.
