New Delhi: After witnessing scorching heat over the last few days in Delhi-NCR, residents are likely to find respite from the intense heat in North India,
as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan from May 28.
The temperature is set to drop with the change in weather in the coming days. The national capital’s temperature has reached 46 degrees Celsius, while several parts of Uttar Pradesh have recorded temperatures of 48 degrees Celsius.
The IMD has predicted that pre-monsoon rains and thunderstorms are expected between May 29 and June 5 in 80 to 90 per cent areas of the country. Due to the Western disturbance in the Himalayan regions, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are already experiencing rainfall.

A warning has been issued for Delhi residents as light to moderate rain with strong winds and lightning is expected in the region on May 28 and 29. IMD has issued a yellow alert for the national capital, and multiple spells of rain are expected throughout the day.
Uttar Pradesh is also likely to experience the same, with light to moderate rainfall between May 28 and 31. Earlier, the weather was making it feel hot even at night, but from May 28, the Purvanchal region and many areas of Uttar Pradesh would witness strong thunderstorms with winds up to 80 kilometers per hour.
The weather in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh is also expected to change between May 28 and 31. Light to moderate rain and strong winds are expected. The Meteorological Department has predicted strong thunderstorms and lightning in many areas on May 28 and 29. This will bring down temperatures and provide relief from the heat.
Rainfall accompanied by strong winds is expected in the Saurashtra and Kutch regions of Gujarat around June 1. According to the Meteorological Department, pre-monsoon activities will intensify in many parts of western India in the coming days.
