Raised blood sugar can signal prediabetes or diabetes, both of which increase the risk of cardiovascular and kidney disease. “Annual blood glucose testing helps detect pre-diabetes and diabetes at an early stage, when dietary changes and medication can prevent long-term damage,” he explains.
