New Delhi: Mumbai is likely to receive heavy rain at isolated places today, August 13, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Residents
should prepare for wet roads, slow traffic and possible waterlogging in low-lying parts of the city.
Heavy rain warning issued
Commuters should check traffic updates before leaving home and allow additional time for their journeys. People travelling by local trains should follow official announcements from railway authorities. Motorists must avoid flooded roads, underpasses and routes where water levels are difficult to judge.
Thane is also likely to receive heavy rain at isolated places on Thursday. Raigad may witness heavier spells at a few places, while Palghar is expected to receive moderate rain. The wider Konkan and Goa region remains under an IMD heavy-rain warning for August 13.
The IMD has also warned of rough sea conditions along the Konkan coast. Squally weather may affect coastal districts. Fishermen and people visiting the waterfront should follow local safety instructions and avoid entering rough waters.
Rain may ease on Friday
The rain could weaken old structures and trees in some places. Residents should avoid standing close to damaged buildings, construction sites and weak trees during intense spells. Rainfall may ease slightly on Friday, August 14, when the IMD expects moderate rain in Mumbai. Light to moderate showers are forecast for August 15 and 16. However, weather conditions can change quickly during the monsoon and residents should continue checking official alerts
