Kolkata: With stock market wobbly for more than a year now and a continuous bull run in gold and silver, diversification is the flavor of the season in the mutual
fund industry. Multi asset funds are, therefore, witnessing a rush of investments.
Mutli-asset funds are those which invest in at least three different asset classes — equities, debt and commodities such as gold and silver. Sometimes a mutli-asset fund can put its money in real estate too. The presence of three classes of assets ensures that even if one or two asset categories are not doing well, the third category generates high returns to balance the net impact.
AMFI figures state that multi-asset allocation funds recorded a sharp surge in inflows in December. It reflects mor and more investors diversifying into precious metals to balance volatile equity returns. Inflows into these funds surged 40% month-on-month to Rs 7,425 crore in Dec 2025. The comparative figure for Nov 2025 was Rs 5,314 crore in November 2025. On a year-on-year basis, the rise was spectacular — 188% from Rs 2,574 crore in Dec 2024.
