New Delhi: Bollywood couple Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan revisited one of the most terrifying nights of their lives as they appeared together
on Karan Johar’s popular chat show, Koffee With Karan Season 9. The actors opened up about the shocking stabbing incident that took place at their Mumbai residence in January 2025.
Recalling the horrifying moments after Saif was attacked, Kareena revealed that she ran onto the road in her nightwear, desperately trying to stop an autorickshaw. The actress shared that she was screaming, “Ruko, Ruko”, as she struggled to get her injured husband to the hospital.

During the conversation, Saif recalled how Kareena rushed outside to arrange transport after he sustained multiple stab injuries. Adding details to the incident, Kareena revealed that she was wearing only her night T-shirt and did not even get the time to change into her pyjamas. She was desperately trying to hail an autorickshaw while Saif was bleeding.
Recalling the moment, Kareena said, “I was screaming on the road. I was like, ‘Ruko, Ruko’. It was like a movie scene.” She further explained that she was running around like a mad woman, trying to find a rickshaw. The actress also mentioned that she was sharing this particular detail publicly for the first time. Saif, meanwhile, joked about her short night T-shirt, adding that it would have made quite a video if someone had captured the moment.

‘Abba, are you going to die?’: Taimur asked Kareena
Kareena also recalled the heartbreaking moment when she saw Saif inside the lift after the attack. The actress said that their elder son, Taimur, was present during the ordeal and was deeply frightened after seeing his father injured. She remembered how Taimur looked at Saif and asked, “Abba, are you going to die?” The question left the family shaken.
Saif, on the other hand, described the incident as the worst night of his life. The actor revealed that he had suffered deep injuries to his neck and back, with a broken piece of the knife lodged in his back. He also spoke about the emotional reaction of his son Ibrahim, who broke down in tears after Saif’s surgery. The actor said he was particularly affected by seeing Ibrahim so upset, as he rarely expressed his emotions in that manner.
Kareena could not sleep for six months after the attack
While Saif managed to remain composed during the immediate aftermath, Kareena admitted that the incident left her traumatised. The actress revealed that she struggled to sleep properly for nearly six months following the attack. She also spoke about how difficult it was to process everything that had happened to her family.
The couple further addressed the questions and conspiracy theories that emerged after Saif was discharged from the hospital. Karan Johar recalled how people questioned the actor’s composed appearance after his treatment. Kareena described some of the theories as bizarre, while Saif said that he did not expect people to stop speculating.
For the unversed, Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder at his Bandra residence in the early hours of January 16, 2025. The actor sustained multiple stab injuries while confronting the intruder in an attempt to protect his younger son, Jeh. He was rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and was discharged on January 21, 2025.
