Jaipur: A suspected bomb threat prompted an aircraft operating as Air India flight AI 2030 to make an emergency landing at Jaipur International Airport
after security agencies received information about a possible explosive device on board.
The Delhi-bound aircraft was reportedly diverted to Jaipur during its journey as a precautionary measure. The crew contacted air traffic control (ATC) after the threat came to light, following which the decision was taken to land the plane at the nearest suitable airport.
The alert triggered heightened security at Jaipur airport, while the news caused anxiety among passengers and their families. Authorities initiated emergency procedures to ensure the aircraft could land safely and the situation could be assessed.
After the aircraft touched down, personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), local police and other security agencies moved in to secure it. The plane was taken to an isolation bay to allow security teams to conduct checks away from the main airport operations area.
The pilot and cabin crew reportedly handled the situation and followed the necessary procedures during the diversion and landing.
Security personnel and a bomb disposal team began a detailed inspection of the aircraft in line with established safety protocols. The checks also include searches of passengers and their baggage to determine whether the threat was credible.
Officials are examining the aircraft to establish whether an explosive device was present or whether the alert had been triggered by a false report. The nature and source of the threat has not been confirmed yet.
Security arrangements at the airport have been tightened following the incident as authorities continue their checks.
Further details about the number of passengers on board and the outcome of the security inspection were not immediately available.
