New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party announced a major organisational reshuffle on Monday, August 17, bringing several senior leaders into its new national
team. Former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and Ram Madhav have been appointed national vice presidents, while former Union minister Smriti Irani has been named a national general secretary.
The appointments were announced by BJP national president Nitin Nabin and came into effect immediately, according to the party release. The changes cover vice presidents, general secretaries, national secretaries, treasurer posts, the party’s different morchas, media and social media teams. Raje was already listed by the BJP among its national vice presidents before the latest announcement.
Vasundhara Raje and Ram Madhav among 13 vice presidents
The BJP has named 13 national vice presidents.
They include Vasundhara Raje Scindia, Tirath Singh Rawat, Ram Madhav, Baijayant Jay Panda, D Purandeswari, Rekha Verma, Varshaben Narendrabhai Doshi, Bharati Pravin Pawar, Manpreet Singh Badal, Lal Singh Arya, S Nagaraj, Tariq Mansoor and Madhuchhanda Kar.
Raje has twice served as Rajasthan chief minister, from 2003 to 2008 and again from 2013 to 2018.
Smriti Irani becomes national general secretary
Smriti Irani is among eight leaders appointed national general secretaries.
The full list includes Vinod Tawde, Sunil Bansal, Biplab Kumar Deb, Smriti Irani, Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia.
Irani has previously held several organisational posts in the BJP and served in multiple Union ministries. She represented Amethi in the Lok Sabha from 2019 to 2024.
B L Santhosh continues as national general secretary for organisation. Shivprakash and Saudan Singh have been appointed joint general secretaries for organisation.
BJP national team: Other major appointments
Piyush Goyal has been named national treasurer, with Rajesh Mangal as joint treasurer. Tarun Chugh takes charge as national office in-charge and Mahendra Pandey becomes national office secretary.
Sambit Patra has been named North East coordinator. Anil Baluni will serve as media coordinator, assisted by Ashish Usha Agrawal, Pradeep Bhandari and Siddharth Yadav.
Deepak Mhaske has been appointed social media coordinator. Priti Gandhi, Shivanand Dwivedi, Alok Bhatt and Arun Yadav will serve as social media co-coordinators.

The party has named Hemang Joshi as Yuva Morcha president and Roop Kumari Choudhary as Mahila Morcha president.
Amarpal Maurya will head the OBC Morcha, Banshilal Gurjar the Kisan Morcha, Shivesh Kumar Ram the SC Morcha, Mannalal Rawat the ST Morcha and Kunwar Basit Ali the Minority Morcha.
The new national team gives Nitin Nabin a broad organisational setup spanning senior political figures, former ministers and leaders drawn from multiple states as the BJP moves ahead with its next phase of party organisation.
