New Delhi: For Ranbir Kapoor, Ramayana is more than just another film. The actor’s journey as Lord Rama has also become a special family experience, with
his daughter, Raha Kapoor, developing a close connection with the epic during her visits to the film’s sets.
As the much-awaited mythological drama prepares to arrive in theatres, Ranbir has shared some heartwarming details about Raha’s involvement in the project. In a recent conversation with the BBC, the actor revealed that his daughter had visited the sets several times and was fascinated by the stories from the Ramayana. He also made a surprising revelation about her appearance in the film.
Raha Shares a Special Moment With Ranbir in Ramayana
Speaking about his daughter’s interest in the epic, Ranbir revealed that he and his wife, Alia Bhatt, often narrate stories from the Ramayana to Raha. Her repeated visits to the sets also gave her an opportunity to witness the film’s world up close. The actor also revealed that Raha had even filmed a shot alongside him, Sai Pallavi and Ravie Dubey, who play Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana, respectively.
Ranbir said, “Raha herself is so interested in the story of the Ramayana. Me and Alia (Bhatt), we always tell her stories. She has visited the sets many times. She has given a shot with Sai and Lakshman (Ravie Dubey) also. So she’s really been a part of this journey. I am so happy that this would be the first story that she will watch on screen because I would like her to watch it.”
Ranbir also reflected on how the film came into his life around the time he embraced fatherhood. He said becoming a father gave him a renewed desire to become a better person, making his association with the story even more meaningful.
He said, “I think it was just the self-intention to want to be a better person; it came at the right time in my life, coinciding with me becoming a father.”
Ranbir Kapoor calls Raha the ‘Diya’ of his life
Apart from discussing the film, Ranbir also shared a sweet personal moment during the BBC interaction with his co-star Sai Pallavi. When asked to name the ‘diya’ or the light of his life, the actor did not take long to respond. He immediately named his daughter, Raha.
Speaking about the festive season, Ranbir said, “For me, definitely my daughter. It’s her fourth Diwali… It’s her birthday two days before Diwali, which is on the 6th of November, so I hope that she gets a lot of blessings, good vibes and positivity around her.”
Raha’s birthday falling so close to Diwali makes this festive season particularly special for the Kapoor family. The little one will turn four on November 6, just a day after the first instalment of her father’s film arrives in cinemas.
