New Delhi: Sanjay Dutt brought back his iconic Munna Bhai persona during a recent appearance on Shekhar Suman’s Shekhar Tonite, using humour to comment
on India’s political and social climate. The Gandhi Jayanti special, released on Friday, featured the actor imagining himself as the Prime Minister for five minutes.
Instead of delivering a conventional political speech, Sanjay slipped into Munna Bhai’s familiar mannerisms and language. His fictional PM address touched on public life, political leadership, foreign travel and Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas.
One of his jokes centred on what he would do after becoming Prime Minister. Sanjay said he would remain in India rather than travel abroad to celebrate the occasion, adding that staying among citizens would help maintain a connection between the Prime Minister and the public. The remark was widely read as a humorous reference to Narendra Modi’s foreign visits.
‘I can’t feel that peace in our country anymore’
Sanjay Dutt: “Ek peace hona chahiye, I can’t feel that peace anymore in India.”
But what kind of “peace” is he talking about?
If there is no peace in India, then where is it? In our neighbouring countries? https://t.co/IKl8xHK3eJ

Before the imaginary PM segment, Sanjay spoke about his feelings towards India and said he missed the sense of peace he associated with the country.
The actor praised Indians for being warm and hospitable before saying that he no longer experiences the same feeling of peace. He expressed hope that the situation would improve and said he prayed to Shivji for those days to return.
His comments came during a Gandhi Jayanti episode that used humour and references to Gandhi’s philosophy as a recurring theme. Sanjay also used his Munna Bhai act to discuss the idea of responding to wrongdoing instead of simply remaining silent.
