New Delhi: Top India batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma endured contrasting fortunes in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Friday after scoring centuries in their
previous innings.
Kohli stroked a fluent 77 off 61 balls with 13 boundaries and a six for Delhi against Gujarat at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground 1 in Bengaluru, having scored a century against Andhra Pradesh in their previous fixture.
But following his 155 off 94 for Mumbai against Sikkim, Rohit was dismissed for a golden duck against Uttarakhand as the opener’s attempted pull landed in the hands of the fielder at fine leg.
Kohli had to walk into bat in the second over after the early dismissal of Priyansh Arya and didn’t much time to settle in. He took only 16 deliveries to reach 30s and completed his half-century in 29 balls.
