Mumbai: The BSE Sensex declined 214.27 points to 85,053.38 on 15 December 2025, Monday. The NSE Nifty went down 82.75 points to 25,964.20. The equity benchmark
indices fell amid weak trends in global markets and unabataed selling by foreign investors. Analysts were also of the view that uncertainty over an India-US trade deal weighed on investors’ sentiment.
Sensex firms laggards gainers included, Trent, NTPC, Bajaj Finserv, Power Grid, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Bharti Airtel. Gainers from BSE barometer:

“Globally, Asian markets are trading lower this morning, led by weakness across Japan and South Korea, as investors turn cautious ahead of key economic data releases from China and the US. US equities closed lower on Friday, while Nasdaq futures continue to signal stress within tech-heavy segments,” Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, an online trading and wealth tech firm, told PTI.
Meanwhile, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) continued to sell equities in the domestic maket. Exchnage dat ashowd that the FIIs offloaded equities worth Rs 1,114.22 crore on Friday, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) pumped in Rs 3,868.94 crore to purchase stocks.
“A major drag on the market continues to be the elusive US-India trade deal which is impacting India’s exports to the US, widening of trade deficit and continuous depreciation in the rupee,” VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments Limited, told the news agency.
On 12 December, the 30-share Sensex appreciated 449.53 points to close settle at 85,267.66. The Nifty jumped 148.40 points to 26,046.95.
Shanghai’s SSE Composite index, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index and South Korea’s Kospi traded lower. The US stock markets settled lower on Friday. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, gained 0.52 per cent to USD 61.43 per barrel.
