Kolkata: The announcement of the India-US trade deal has not only created an upbeat mood on Dalal Street but also has sent stocks in a few specific sectors
soaring. Predictably, these stocks belong to the sectors which were the most impacted by the 50% punitive tariff that US president Donald Trump slapped on imports from India in August 2025. These sectors include jewellery, seafood, chemicals, textile, leather. The stocks related to these sectors jumped massively on Tuesday. By the way, the 50% tariffs was the highest for any country in the world.
“The agreement reduces reciprocal US tariffs on Indian goods from 25 per cent to 18 per cent, removing a major overhang that had weighed on export-oriented sectors, manufacturing, and overall market sentiment in recent months,” Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, an online trading and wealth tech firm, was quoted in the media as saying. Inion commerce ministry data showed India’s goods exports to the US went down 1.83% in Q3FY26 period, thanks to the abnormally high tariffs.
Gems and jewellery stocks
This is the one of the labour intensive sectors which took a beating after the imposition of 50% tariff on India. At the news of the deal, stocks in the gems and jewellery sector jumped by up to 20% on Feb 3. Goldiam International stock jumped as much as 20%. So did Vaibhav Global. Kalyan Jewellers India stock rose 7.61% and Senco Gold surged by 7.41%.
Other stocks to surge on Tuesday morning-afternoon session included: Shringar House of Mangalsutra: 6.61%, P N Gadgil Jewellers 6.25%, PC Jeweller 5% and Titan 4.68%.
Specialty chemicals, seafood export stocks
Seafood exports and specialty chemicals are two sectors that bore a lot of brunt, thanks to the Trump tariffs. Avanti Feeds and Apex Frozen Foods, which are part of the seafood exports domain, rocketed 20%. Apex Frozen Foods reached its 52-week high on BSE.
Other stocks in this domain to benefit a lot were: Zeal Aqua 12.14%; Kings Infra Ventures 13.02%; Mukka Proteins 7.32%; IFB Agro Industries 3.94%, Coastal Corporation 5%.
In the speciality chemicals stable, the stocks to benefit were Aarti Industries which urged 19%, Atul (14.6%), Neogen Chemicals (14.30%), Gujarat Fluorochemicals (11.5%), SRF (9.56%), Navin Fluorine International (9.09%), Acutaas Chemicals (5.89%), Vinati Organics (7.7%).
Textile and leather stocks
The textile and leather sector is one of the most labour-intensive sectors in the country. The stocks in this sector jumped massively after trading began. Those majorly benefitting included: K P R Mill (20%), Garware Technical Fibres (20%), Welspun Living (19.85%), Vardhman Textiles (19.60%), Trident (19.52%), Raymond Lifestyle (9.56%), Page Industries (5.31%), Bhartiya International (10.70%), Mayur Uniquoters (7.39%), Bata India climbed (5%) and Metro Brands (3.96).
