New Delhi: Salman Khan has finally reacted to the social media chatter around his “romantic” look in the teaser of his upcoming war film, Battle of Galwan.
The minute-long teaser, released last month, shows him as an army officer rallying his troops for war while holding just a stick, staring down both his enemies and his own soldiers.
Some users on social media decided that the glance he gives his men looked “romantic”, and memes and trolling soon followed. Now, Salman has shut down that talk in his own style, insisting it is the intense gaze of a commanding officer, not a lover.

The actor spoke about the teaser on Friday evening when he attended an Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) match in Surat. He was at the game between Bengaluru Strikers and Delhi Superheros, where he also promoted Battle of Galwan and was asked to recreate the viral moment from the teaser.
Acknowledging the trolling, Salman said that those calling it a romantic look were missing the point of his character. “Ab kisi ko ye samajh mein ata hai ki ye romantic look hai, lekin Colonel hu bhayya,” Salman said, making it clear that he is playing a senior army officer, not a lover boy, in the film. He then explained what he was trying to convey with that expression in the teaser.

“To ye, Colonel ka look hai jo ki samajhta hai ki apne team walon ko, apne jawano ko kaisa hosla de,” Salman said, stressing that his gaze was meant to boost the morale of his soldiers in the face of danger. He added that the same intense look could be directed at his critics as well. “Vaise hi look main inko bhi de sakta hoon (growls), Us look ka koi matlab hai nahi,” he added, growling playfully as he spoke.
The Battle of Galwan teaser shows Salman’s character holding his ground as enemy soldiers armed with guns march towards him, while he stands firm with just a stick in his hand. For the star, the much-discussed glance is simply part of portraying a Colonel who understands how to give “hosla” and hope to his men before battle, not a romantic moment, no matter what social media might say.
