Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has intensified its statewide campaign Operation Kaalnemi, verifying more than 4,802 people, registering 724 cases,
and arresting 511 individuals across three districts. Among those arrested were 19 Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in the state, of whom 10 have already been deported while legal action continues against the remaining nine.
Launched in July 2025, Operation Kaalnemi is aimed at protecting the cultural, religious, and social identity of Devbhoomi. The campaign focuses on cracking down on hypocrisy, fraud, and illegal activities carried out under the guise of religion and faith. The government has made it clear that while faith will always be respected, crime and deception in its name will not be tolerated.
Haridwar saw the verification of more than three thousand people
In Haridwar, the campaign saw the verification of more than three thousand people, leading to hundreds of cases and over three hundred arrests. Dehradun recorded more than 1,700 verifications, with preventive action taken against hundreds and over two hundred arrests made. Udham Singh Nagar also witnessed strict enforcement, with suspected individuals identified and serious cases registered.
19 Bangladeshi citizens were found to be residing illegally in Uttarakhand
The arrest of foreign nationals has been a significant part of the drive. Nineteen Bangladeshi citizens were found to be residing illegally in Uttarakhand. Ten of them have already been sent back to their country, while nine remain under legal process. Officials say this action highlights the seriousness of the government’s commitment to law and order.
Dignity of Devbhoomi will not be compromised
Chief Minister Dhami has repeatedly clarified that the campaign is not directed against any particular community. He described Uttarakhand as more than just a geographical state, calling it a center of tradition and belief for millions of people. He stressed that the dignity of Devbhoomi will not be compromised under any circumstances.
The Chief Minister has also directed officials to remain vigilant and ensure that negligence at any level is not tolerated. He emphasized that strict action will continue against anyone who tampers with the identity of Devbhoomi.
