Chennai: A TVK MLA has alleged that he and other legislators were approached with a ₹35 crore cash offer to switch sides and weaken the Vijay-led government.
The complaint filed by MLA Ilaiyaraaja claims the offer was linked to an attempt to split the ruling party and bring down the administration.
Police have arrested three people identified as Naresh, Thirunavukkarasu and Thiagarajan. The allegations come in a politically tense phase for Tamil Nadu, where Vijay’s TVK came to office after post-poll support from smaller parties, according to earlier reports on the government formation process.

According to the complaint, the accused allegedly approached TVK legislators with a ₹35 crore offer to switch allegiance. A later party note claimed the amount was offered to vote against a proposed no-confidence motion against the Assembly Speaker.
TVK leaders have called the alleged move “a deeper conspiracy” to destabilise the government. Party sources have demanded a high-level probe into what they describe as an attempt to poach MLAs.
Who has been named?
Police have arrested Naresh, Thirunavukkarasu and Thiagarajan. During interrogation, the accused allegedly claimed they were acting on instructions linked to senior political figures, including DMK leader V Senthil Balaji and his brother Ashok.
These claims have not been independently verified by authorities. No formal charges have been framed so far.
