New Delhi: In Lucknow, more than 70 judges and judicial officers of the High Court cycled to court once a week to raise awareness about the growing fuel
crisis and environmental protection. This initiative by the judiciary is being appreciated throughout the city and is being discussed as a positive message for society.
All judges and judicial officers gathered at the Sessions House in Dalibagh, Lucknow, in the morning. They then set off for the courts in a bicycle rally. Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan of the Lucknow High Court led this special campaign. Also, more than 50 judicial officers gathered at the residence of District Judge Malkhan Singh.
Not one-day stunt, judiciary pledges to continue
According to the reports, this special campaign is not merely a symbolic one-day initiative, but rather a pledge to continue. The judiciary believes that, given rising fuel prices, every segment of society must come forward to protect the environment.
The primary objective of this initiative is to convey to the public that small changes in habits can help save petrol and diesel, and reduce pollution as well. The use of bicycles cannot only reduce petrol and diesel consumption but also improve health.

People also praised the campaign, seeing judges and judicial officers cycling on the road. While people across the country are troubled by rising fuel prices, this initiative by the judiciary is being seen as a good step towards raising public awareness.
The campaign was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to reduce fuel consumption, following which many Chief Ministers, Ministers, and judges have started the use of public transport as well as electric cars.
