New Delhi: When Jasprit Bumrah stepped into international cricket in 2016, two things stood out the most – his unorthodox action and his ability to consistently
bowl toe-crushing yorkers. A decade later, he has evolved into India’s undisputed pace king and one of the most fearsome bowlers in world cricket.
On January 23, 2026, Bumrah completed 10 years in international cricket with India’s second T20I against New Zealand in Raipur, set to mark the historic occasion. Once a white-ball specialist, Bumrah has emerged as an all-format great by using his unique action, deadly accuracy, brilliant cricketing brain and an unwavering spirit.
Bumrah, a modern-day great, has reshaped India’s fast bowling landscape in the last decade, contributing in country’s countless memorable victories.
Having made his international debut in January 2016 during India’s tour of Australia, the young Gujarat cricketer broke the long tradition where match-winners were generally batters and carved his legacy as one of the greatest match-winners of Indian cricket.
Bumrah made his international debut in an ODI against Australia at Sydney on January 23, 2016, followed by his T20I debut in Adelaide on January 26, 2016. His red-ball debut came two years later in Cape Town in January 2018 against South Africa, where he made an immediate impact and changed the narrative that Indian fast bowlers could be succesful in overseas conditions.
